We met at the Arlington
Senior Center about 8:20 for our transportation to DFW airport. Our flight was scheduled to leave at
12:35. Seemed a really long wait, but
folks got late breakfast/ snacks and finally the 3 hour trip to Philadelphia
loaded. Uneventful ride, I kinda
expected to be able to see a movie, but this plane was not equipped with that
perk. Three hours isn’t so long, so I
read and listened to conversations around me.
We arrived at 4:45 (time change from Central time) and made our way to
the correct gate. It was right by a
Smash Burger place and Nick got one. Just
as he was about to eat it, boarding for our flight was called and he boxed it
up and saved it for the flight. I must
admit, from the few bites I tried, it was a very juicy, tasty hamburger. Didn’t realize that Smash Burger has a
place in Arlington—we’ll have to check
them out sometime.
This plane (an air bus- with
10 seats in each row- 3-4-3 configuration) was equipped with video availability
(movies and t.v. along with music and GPS information. We were on the right
side of the center bank of seats, with an empty seat between me and the other
person on the row. Much less crowded
feeling and room to spread out. During
this flight I watched Moana and Trolls.
My daughter and grand daughter had suggested that I’d want to see them
sometime. The screens aren’t the easiest
things to use (maybe old, maybe abused
by former travelers) touch screen is
tricky, but I was able to get it to work well enough.
We were served supper, a
bland chicken based meal with a roll, cheese, and dessert—adequate, but not
very exciting. Breakfast a very few
hours later was more interesting, with a muffin top, cheese, fruit and
yogurt. When “night time” came—can’t always tell
on board an airplane, I tried to sleep, but couldn’t with noises, random lights
and just general stimuli to fuel my brain.
Before long we were de-planeing
in Rome
